For The Sake of Example

The Philippines is a beautiful country. It has been known to contain exemplary indigenous resources, and it is also famous for its forever hospitable citizens. It is a shock, then, to know that this country has not been doing a lot of improvement in terms of performance.

Some might say that it is the lack of resources, while others would believe that it is the lack of knowledge in handling the said resources. The main reason, and I believe that most of you will agree with me, is the lack of right attitude.

How does one attain the right attitude, though? Can someone get it just from listening to seminars? Can the theories just be attained from a textbook and then applied immediately? Is it available in some sort of microchip and you just to install it to be able to get free access?

Definitely not.

The right attitude is obtained by following the right example. How will someone be able to follow the right example, then? This is done by doing what is right. And what organization upholds the right attitude for the right causes?

There is nothing better than Exempli Gratia Foundation (EGF).

Exempli Gratia Foundation has been known to be a movement of ordinary people with extraordinary goals. Its mission is to contribute to nation-building by helping in shaping productive and responsible Filipinos nationwide.

What does Exempli Gratia mean, you say? It literally means “for the sake of example” and basing on my experience with the foundation, I can attest to that.

I was given the fortunate chance to have been involved in one of Exempli Gratia Foundation’s activities last year. It was their Gift-Giving Drive at Moonwalk, Paranaque. It was a very inspirational experience for me. Left and right, there were children who were patiently waiting for their gifts and there were also children playing games.

The joy in their eyes upon receiving their gifts was nothing compared to the best Christmas present ever. The Exempli Gratia Foundation doing this event without any interest in compensation whatsoever was truly an eye-opener for me.

This foundation led me to realize that each day is a day worth spending wisely. Each of us has a wonderful life, and that life would only be wasted if it were not invested in doing humanitarian works such as what Exempli Gratia Foundation does.

Currently, the Exempli Gratia Foundation has been busy with another one of their ever increasing programs - Health, Education, Livelihood, and Preparedness (HELP). This is another one of their efforts in the hope of empowering the Filipino nation.

Health, Education, Livelihood, and Preparedness (HELP) is mostly feeding programs, onsite tutorials, entrepreneurship education seminars and crisis preparedness interventions all combined into a set package.
Hearing about this foundation has made me interested, and joining it has been gradually successful in transforming my views about life and about the society.

Doing something for the common good of men has been an idea that has been taught to us ever since, but putting that idea into action is what really counts. With that said, I can say that Exempli Gratia Foundation really does put the word “human” in “humanitarian”.

And I hope that they stay stronger for all the years to come.
